Josephine, Austin & Eliazar

Austine

Austine is 18 years old and attends form 4 of the Oriwo Boys High school. His hobbies include debating and reading, his favourite subject at school is Christian religious education and his dream is to become a constitutional lawyer. He lost both parents when he was 8 years old and now lives with his grandmother who is a farmer in Osika.  Austine’s appeal to the Geno Project:

“I hereby appeal to the Geno Project to consider my case favourably. Losing both parents at age eight in life can be a destabilizing factor.  In my school, I am not the only person who has the same fate. We are many. But the going is tough for us. At times we feel really bad when the school closes and we have to go home. There is no father / mother whom to share our academic achievements / challenges with.

The Geno project has spent financial resources on us. Please help Geno spiritually, morally and financially to keep on helping these needy children like me from Africa. There are things that happen in our lives that are not easy to forget. When I got a calling letter to join Oriwo High school, I did not know where to start or end. My grandmother could not buy for me the basic items needed in boarding school like washing detergents, bathing soap, toothpaste, toothbrush etc. Geno  helped me and other relatives got ashamed and started helping me in small ways as well. I am grateful to them. My prayer is that God blesses those who are out to help the needy. We shall one day help humanity in general. I salute the Geno Project. I promise to utilize my time well and profitably.”

Eliazar

Eliazar is 15 years old. He is attending form 1 of Onjiko Boys high school. His hobbies include football, debating and scouting and his favourite subject is Physics. Eliazar is an orphan and lives with his 80 year old Grandmother, who is a farmer who grows maize and millets. It is his dream to become the best doctor in Africa.  Eliazar’s appeal to the Geno Project:

“I lost both parents when I was young to HIV AIDS. During my primary school education, I lost hope many times as we had no food, no clothing and I thought the best thing I could do was to go and help the fishermen at the lake to earn a living. Solomon, our mentor, had to pay my primary school examination fees.  He talked to me many times and encouraged me to work hard. I promised him I would not let him down.

During the two terms I have been in secondary school, I have posted very good results. I intend to work even harder. My appeal is that I need a sponsor. I won’t let the sponsor down. One quote that excites me is that when you think education is expensive, try ignorance. Education will light the whole of the African continent.

We have a number of role models here. One being Brian Tracy who tells us that when you want to be successful, study what successful people do and do those things. He goes further to say that we must also study what failures do and DON’T do those things.

I am grateful to the Geno project. They have enabled me to join Form 1 at Onjiko High school in Kisumu County. But they also need support. Please lift my hand at this hour of need in our lives. I promise to work very hard now and in the future.”

Josephine

Josephine is 21 years old and is in her final year of Maseno University in Kisumu, Kenya. She is a self-claimed extrovert and her ambition is to qualify as a graduate teacher and begin building Kenya. Her hobbies include reading inspirational books, basketball and counselling and her favourite subject is English. Her father died when she was one week old and her mother is a farmer, growing groundnuts and maize. Josephine’s appeal to the Geno Project:

“I am told my dad died in a lift when I was less than ten days old. What a tragedy and a blessing. A tragedy because I know nothing about a father; A blessing because the situation makes me work very hard. I have nearly completed my studies at Maseno University. Paul and Solomon have replaced my biological father due to the role they are playing in my life, I salute them. I work hard as I know I cannot disappoint the two gentlemen above. I am training as a teacher and I am disciplined. In Africa, girls of my age have children unless you are careful with your life. Solomon has been there for me on numerous occasions when I thought I would sink. God is for us and nobody will be against us. The Geno Project has been more than generous to one student and that is Josephine.”
